A Comparison of Different Types Of Depression
Depression isn’t simple. Depression can linger and grow for months or even years before being detected . It’s known that some 15 million people in America will be impacted by some type of depression each year. Unfortunately fewer than 1/3 of these people will look for help.
In many cases the afflicted do not even realize that they are ill. Every day stress is common in the modern world. It has become harder and harder to deal with the every day obstacles of life. Many families are surviving week to week. The competition to keep a job has been enhanced by the crisis in our economy. Stress leads to depression.
There are a lot of types of depression. Some of the labels mean the same thing. These include medical depression, clinical depression and manic depression. Late stages of the disease are called severe depression.
Depression can result from a variety of causes. There are those that believe it is biological, that chemical imbalances in the brain lead us to depression. Depression is also passed along in the genes. If your grandfather and father suffered bouts with depression than you may be at risk to suffer it as well.
The same issues can give birth to many different types of depression. Substance abuse can lead to depression. Rather it is alcohol or drug abuse, both has shown evidence to depression. The death of a family member can increase the chance for depression.
History hasn’t been kind to mental depression. Prior to mental illness being recognized as a disease it was considered by many to be a personal defect. The end result was treatment that was not appropriate or effective. Negative effects persist through all the stages of depression. Therefore treatment requires early detection.
When depression becomes severe depression then medical care is a must. Suicide often takes place in this final phase. The calls for assistance weren’t answered and now the chance to solve the problem is fading. Medications and therapy combine for a working treatment. Support groups can also help. There are also natural herbs you can use to treat the disease.
People who suffer from any type of depression have options. Seek medical help if you or anyone you know shows signs of depression.

And that’s a serious problem because with this disability (ie Depression) it’s hard to realize that one has such. Some are getting misdiagnosed and therefore another issue comes about. I do agree that the percentage is about 1/3 of the people get help correctly. And that it’s not too late. We need to continue educating people about the various types of depression so that way we are all educated about such things. Making it easier to detect!
